Facts

  • King's Cross House started life as an office complex comprising 16,331 sq m of floorspace in two 15-storey office towers with a 405 sq m restaurant attached to a 2-storey pavilion.
  • The towers were linked at ground level and by a 15th-floor skybridge, and were built in two phases.
  • In March 2006, planning permission was granted to refurbish the complex and convert it to residential use, to provide 846 student rooms, 52 private apartments and 1,200 sq m of retail accommodation.
  • The complex was converted into a private student accommodation initiative with no affiliation to any one university.
  • Nido London is London's largest student accommodation facility under one roof.
  • The name "nido" is both an Italian and Spanish word meaning "nest"; the complex's accommodation is known as "Nido Cubes" and houses a total of 950 students.
  • As a result of renovation, the towers are linked by a podium and are clad in glass and perforated steel.
