Located in extreme northwest Oregon where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean, Astoria is the seat of Clatsop County. Named in honor of John Jacob Astor, this is one of he oldest cities west of the Rocky Mountains. The city has since been given the nickname “Little San Francisco of the Pacific Northwest" due to its many restored Victorian homes situated on steep hills leading to the Columbia.
