Port Huron, the self proclaimed Maritime Capital of the Great Lakes, lies at the northern most point on the Saint Clair River where it empties into Lake Huron across from the Sarnia, Ontario, and 60 miles (96.6 kilometers) of downtown Detroit. Port Huron is also the eastern most point in Michigan. The city is a significant port and transportation hub on the Great Lakes, and has two, Class One freight railroads that serve the city, as well as Amtrak passenger rail, the Blue Water Bridge, and two interstate freeways.
