Located about 40 miles northeast of Charlotte, Salisbury is the seat of Rowan County. The city was established in 1755 and incorporated as Salisbury in 1790. Today, the city is known as being the home of Catawba College, Livingstone College as well as the Salisbury National Cemetery.
