Occoquan is located southwest of Washington, DC in Prince William County on
U.S. Route 1. It derives its name from a Dogue Indian word meaning "at the
end of the water." Originally settled in the early 18th Century, Occoquan was
laid off into streets in 1804. Today, the town features a large number of
historic homes and businesses, many in continuous use for well over 200 years.
