This is a large suburb of Phoenix, Arizona. It is located about ten miles northwest of downtown Phoenix, and is home to the Arizona Cardinals and the Phoenix Coyotes. Glendale, like the rest of the Phoenix metropolitan area, has grown phenomenally over the last fifty years. In 1950 Glendale had only 8,179 residents. Today, it has about a quarter of a million residents and is the fourth largest city in Arizona. Glendale has a charming downtown area that features many antique stores and other small shops and restaurants. Most structures are historic by Arizona standards and the downtown area is very walkable.
