This is a fast-growing suburb of Phoenix, about twenty miles southeast of downtown. South of Tempe, west of Gilbert, and adjacent to Ahwatukee and Mesa, Chandler is home to many Intel plants and is one of the wealthier suburbs of the Phoenix metro area. In 1950, Chandler had only 3,799 residents.
