Located at the extreme western end of the Vancouver peninsula and established in 1907 to set aside lands for the University of British Columbia, opening in 1915. The daytime population is over 50,000 with enrolment at UBC around 40,000 students. Today many high-rise apartments and domitories are being constructed and more planned for future growth. The campus is considered one of the most beautifully situated in the world.
