A west side suburb located 9 miles from downtown Cleveland in the West Shore area of Cuyahoga County. Situated along the Lake Erie shoreline west of the Rocky River's deep gorge mouth at the Great Lake, the area, once part of the original Rockport Township, incorporated as a village in 1903 and as a city 27 years later. The Beachcliff section of Rocky River, directly across the Detroit Avenue Bridge from Lakewood, contains restaurants, shops, and many beautiful lakeside homes. Beneath the bridge is the home of the Cleveland Yacht Club.
