Overland Park is the largest suburb in Metropolitan Kansas City and the second largest city in the State of Kansas. It was incorporated in 1960 with just over 23,000 residents. The downtown is an historic site with pedestrian-friendly walkways featuring arts, antiques, collectible shops, and eateries. The city has garnered numerous awards for livability and serves as headquarters for many international firms including Sprint, Black & Veatch Global Engineering, YRC Worldwide, Embarq Corporation, and Waddell & Reed Financial. The towers of the massive Corporate Woods office park dominate the College Boulevard Corridor. Famous people include former chairman of the Joint-Chiefs-of-Staff General Richard Myers, author and television psychologist "Dr. Phil" McGraw, both of whom graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park.
