Pensacola, Florida's largest deep-water port, lies on Pensacola Bay in northwestern Florida. It is the home of the Pensacola Naval Air Station, as well as several other US Navy installations. Perdido Key is home to a number of high-rise condominium towers. Permanent settlement dates back to 1698, when a fort was built by Spanish military leader Don Andres d'Arriola.
