Edison is located about 30 miles southwest of New York and about 10 miles northeast of New Brunswick. It is situated near major transit corridors: the Garden State Parkway, the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95), I-287, US Route 1, and Amtrak's northeast corridor rail line.
Major buildings are found in the Raritan Center and Metropark Corporate Campus , which extends into neighboring Woodbridge Township .
Thomas Edison's Menlo Park laboraties are located here. The Thomas Edison Memorial Tower commemorates the site where Edison researched many of the inventions essential to modern life, such as the light bulb, the phonograph, and electrical distribution.
