Williamsport is an industrial city in the Allegheny Mountains 86 miles north of Harrisburg. It was an important lumbering center in the late 19th century, but was forced to diversify its economic base after the exhaustion of local forest reserves in the early 20th century. It is the home of Little League baseball, and remains the site of the league's national headquarters. Williamsport was settled in the 1790s and was incorporated as a city in 1866. It is the seat of Lycoming County.
