Salina is the metropolis of North-Central Kansas. Located 91 miles north of Wichita and 112 miles west of Topeka on I-70, it is situated in a winter wheat and livestock area. Industries include grain storage, flour mills, meat and poultry packing, and aircraft manufacture.
The world's largest manufacturer of frozen pizza, Tony's Pizza, is headquartered in
Salina. Native sons include blue jeans pioneer H. D. Lee, astronaut Steve Hawley and
former Governor Bill Graves.
Salina was laid out in 1858 and incorporated in 1870. It is the county seat of Saline
