Taoyuan, the name meaning peach garden, is much smaller and less crowded than Taipei, while close enough to keep the resources of Taipei readily accessible. The cost of living in the city is much lower and the variety of housing is more varied than that of Taipei. Taoyuan has special economic zones where many of the multinational corporations have their factories.
The Chiang Kai-shek International Airport is making this small city the gateway to the rest of the island. Close to the airport is the CKS Aviation Museum and a lookout tower where you can observe planes landing and taking off.
