Facts

  • The original Edwardian style historic hotel building sat at the corner of Jasper Avenue and 97th Street. It was deconstructed in 1984 to allow for construction of a federal government office complex named Canada Place. It's materials were salvaged, stored and then later rebuilt along with a modern (rear and side) addition as part of a financial, developer agreement. The new expanded facility was created to house the CKUA radio station offices, studios and library as well as a restored interior main floor level Pub-restaurant space, reminiscent of the original hotel's.
