Facts

  • This building contains 13 floors of office space topped by two tall, but small, mechanical penthouses.
  • The 162-foot height given by the Sanborn Fire Insurance Company is believed to be to the top of the main parapet.
  • Due to superstition in America (and other countries) this building is common in that it does not count a 13th floor; the 14th floor is above the 12th floor.
  • This building was acquired in 1976 by the City of Jackson as the new city hall.
  • A renovation started in the spring of 2004 and finished in the summer of 2005 which completely replaced mechanical, electrical, and safety systems. The exterior was also completely renovated to its original appearance.
