  • First 5-star deluxe hotel in Tel Aviv.
  • Excavation began on September 13, 1962.
  • Built on a 17,000 square meters site, originally designated as a public park, which changed its status after intervention of the Israeli government.
  • The hotel's site was formerly used, back in the 1950s and early 1960s, as an Israel Air Force missile base, named Yona Camp.
  • During construction, three workers died in an accident.
  • On September 14, 1965, exactly three years and a day after work had begun, the grand opening ceremony was held. It was attended by Mr. Conrad Hilton and Israel's Prime Minister at the time, Mr. Levi Eshkol.
  • Due to the hotel's impressive size and importance in Tel Aviv history, it has become one of the city's unofficial landmarks.
  • Upon completion in 1965, Hilton Tel Aviv was the city's largest and most exclusive hotel with 450 rooms.
  • In the 1970s the building went through a major enlargement process, with the extension of the eastern wing, adding 12 extra rooms per typical floor. The hotel now has 43 rooms on a typical floor for a total of 582 rooms.
  • Four different restaurants are located within the hotel; one of them was deemed "one of the finest kosher restaurants in the country" by the Herald Tribune.
  • The renowned artistic metal entrance door to the King Solomon restaurant, designed by Shraga Weil, portrays motifs from local nature.
  • "Landscape" by Menashe Kadishman, one of Israel's best known artists, was completed in 2000 outside the main entrance to the Hilton.
  • One of the most influential buildings in the country, setting a facade pattern which is often repeated in various examples in other Israeli hotels, even to these days.
